Good notebook for price January 26, 2010 Aysenur I actually bought this laptop for $373 which is incredible.
PROS:
Microphone
Wide Screen
Free Upgrade to Windows 7 (I upgraded it and it works perfectly)
Touchpad
Good Speed
Free Trials- Microsoft Office, Norton
Cons:
No Webcam
1.5 hour battery (which really sucks)
Keyboard is a bit cramped due to the 10 key.
Overall this notebook is a pretty good. However the battery really is horrible. But that may change based on the brightness, usage and such. If you do upgrade to Windows 7 with custom installation, the scrolling on the touch pad is gone. :|
It doesn't have a webcam but to microphone is great. For this price, this laptop is a winner!
Never another HP product December 12, 2009 A. Hydo (Ga United States) I purchased two Compaq laptops for Christmas 2008. Four months into using my laptop, the screen spontaneously cracked. I hardly took it anywhere and when I did I used a heavy duty carry case. HP/Compaq took it into consideration for repair, at my expense. $429 to replace the screen, I opted out. The second pc has a glitch where the screen has to be repositioned every 30 minutes or so when it goes all white.
After fighting HP on the first pc I have no will to do so on the second. They don't live up to the "Built to Last" sticker on the keyboard. HP does not live up to their warranty. My 16 family members have agreed to never by HP/Compaq products ever again.
DVD drive broken after 2 weeks of purchase December 3, 2009 Jian Wen I bought this 420US model in this August. The DVD drive failed to read and burn after 2 weeks of purchase. I called the customer service and have it replaced in the September. However, the new one failed to burn and read CD again in another one month. DVD reading is OK. When HP scheduled the computer back to the repair center in TX, the computer screen was cracked by FedEX and HP refused to replace the screen, even though they paid for the shipping and have the laptop insured. HP said it is me who broke the LCD and sent back for repair. what??? Another word, you have to prepare at least 1hr to finish the call with HP's customer service. Now I have a broken screen and broken DVD drive 3-month Compaq siting on for floor that I can do nothing with it. Hope you guy would not have the bad experience but I would never buy a compaq product EVER.

But the laptop is okay though the system is VISTA
Me siento satisfecha November 17, 2009 Adriana (Costa Rica) La computadora es sencilla, no tiene mayores atributos de diseño, pero es poderosa. Tiene 3 gigas de ram, lo cual la hace suficientemente veloz y capaz de aguantar al windows vista. Los únicos contras que se me pueden ocurrir son que es grande ( o mas bien larga), pero es porque tiene un teclado numerico, el cual es útil para cierto tipo de aplicaciones y que no tiene camara web. El peso es similar al de cualquier laptop. Y el precio es indiscutiblemente barato. La recomiendo mucho si su presupuesto es limitado pero una netbook se le queda corta para sus propósitos.
